Baby Bath Time Safety Tips

Bathing is an important part of your baby’s development. Here are some tips to keep bath time safe:

  1. Frequency: Wait until the umbilical cord has healed (6–8 weeks) before giving a full bath. Before this, use a wet cloth to clean their skin.
  2. Temperature: Ensure the room is at least 22°C to avoid discomfort. Start with water at a comfortable temperature, up to 38 °C if needed.
  3. Duration: Initially, limit baths to 5–10 minutes to prevent your baby from getting a cold. As your baby grows, gradually extend the bath time.

Never leave your baby bathing alone. Monitor and keep the water warm. Prepare all the essentials and warm the room. Use plain water for the first month instead of bath products [1].
